Jacob Francis Fries was born in Rippy, Iowa in 1894. He married Kathryn (Katie) Meinz on July 25, 1914 in Ogden, Iowa. A year later they moved to Mott, ND and had seven children. They farmed in the Mott area. He died and is buried in Sunny slope Cemetery, Mott, ND.
