Dickey County,
North Dakota

Photos taken in July, 2012 by Allen E. Konrad. History in Monango—The Banner City 1886-1986 –p.69 notes: Peace Lutheran Church cemetery is a three-fourths acre plot located on a portion of the northwest quarter of section 27, in Potsdam Township. This land was purchased by Friedens Gemeinde (Peace congregation) from D.S.B. Johnston Land Company for the sum of $20.00 in November, 1907. It was surveyed and platted in 1932. Arndt Mammel was president and August Herberg was secretary at this time. The church was moved to Merricourt. Later, the congregation dissolved and the building was sold. The cemetery is no longer used for burials. It is maintained by relatives, friends and neighbors of the former congregation. A compilation of information from Peace Lutheran Church Records 1907-1957, Monango—The Banner City 1886-1986 –p.69; Cemeteries of North Dakota – Volume 18 – Dickey County (North Half—Including Oakes, N.D.), Edited & Typed by: Maxine Workman, The Red River Valley Genealogy Society, W. Fargo, ND, 1987, p.8; and Merricourt North Dakota 1891-1991 “Small Town, Big Memories,” p.30. Peace Church Records seem to imply that these persons are also buried here, but no markers are visible: BIEDERSTEDT, Christoph (11 Sep 1904-17 Mar 1945), Eva Bollinger (27 Jul 1902-02 May 1921), Karl (28 Jul 1900-11 Jul 1921); BOLLINGER, (baby) (date unknown), David Arthur (31 Oct 1923-28 Apr 1944), Emma Maria (01 Jan 1914-06 Mar 1914),; GEBHARDT, (baby) (?); GEISZLER, Elisabeth (1887-1944); LAMMER, Fredericka Mammel (12 Sep 1901-10 Jul 1931), Lester LeRoy (10 Jul 1931-25 Nov 1931); RICHTER, (baby) (?); STARK, Ludama Bloch (01 Dec 1908-12 Aug 1958); STEINWAND, Emilia (27 Jan 1918-21 Nov 1918), Esther Hulda (11 Jul 1923-06 Oct 1924).
