Jacob Fries was born in Germany and married Mary Helene Regne (sp?) in Germany. They emigrated from Germany on July 12, 1893, sailing steerage on the Norwegian ship "Noordland", with their three oldest children. They moved to Mott, ND sometime around 1920 and farmed in the area. He died and is buried in Mott, ND.
